    New Year!

Wowzer! It's been so cold here, many of us needed to relax at home until our schedules kick back into gear. Last Story Time of 2017 was Great Fun. We read "and the train goes. . . " by william bee. This book is a story lady favorite. I cleared my personal bookcase to make room for new, stellar stories - keeping only "Must Haves." "and the train goes. . . " is considered a "MUST HAVE" because it's colorful, engaging, lively and LOUD . . (when story lady reads . . . giggle) AND

    My Fabulous Friend, Sherri -

Sherri is responsible for blessing the children of our city in magnificent ways. Yesterday was party day at Chaifetz Arena. The annual event is called Motion for Kids. There is a Massive table full of Free Books for every reading level. Golly! What a treasure. She let me come tell stories, sing songs and help give away books, books and more books. The Fox Wish

I was going to share about something else entirely. Until this morning, which was perfect - one of my co-workers saw me waiting for the book store to open. She was on the way to school, and stopped to say "Hello!" - with a lovely smile on her face, which made me So Happy. Then she needed to go, and said "see you tomorrow" - which is true - and i got to wish her a happy day. AND I hope she is (having a happy day) Of course, there are LOTS of great brand new books BUT, I saw th

    One Afternoon

Some books traveled from Hollister, California especially to enchant and encourage children here in Saint Louis. Tomorrow "One Afternoon" by Yumi Heo will come to life and bring joy to our Wednesday Morning Group. Thank You, Su-sieeemac! love & love, -g- #loveloveg #family

    Perhaps Signage?

New families have been arriving for story time. This week a mother looked surprised and said, she knew the song we were singing, but she'd never heard it with "so much life." She had to search her vocabulary for appropriate wording. I forget - until newbies show up - there should be a disclaimer - or, at least colorful signage - informing people they have entered the wild and crazy zone of a second generation "City Slicker." Spike Jones, who was a business genius, created his

    Tell Me A Tattoo Story!

So people are beautifully illustrated, and this picture book celebrates perfectly. "Tell me a Tattoo Story" by Alison McGhee and Eliza Wheeler is modeled after another classic picture book and is destined to be a favorite for this generation. It's a 'daddy to son' story that everyone will enjoy - it was great for us at tiny tot story time and will be even better cuddled up with ones who love you best at bedtime. It has already proven to be one of the best ever gift books for

    Ponderosa

D'ya know the song, "My Heros Have Always Been Cowboys?" In my case, my imaginary family were “cowboys.” I claimed the Cartwright Family as my own and pretended we all lived in that Huge log house in the Ponderosa Pines. The reason I bring that up today? I heard the “lost episodes” of Bonanza were going to be shown, beginning next week, on TV. I didn't know any of “our” episodes WERE lost (did you?) I'll be sure to check it out, to me it will seem like family home movies . .

    We Are Family

It often seems to me we are all part of a limitless, colorful, traveling family. (Although, sometimes i think we are part of a mobile art exhibit . . giggle . . . either way, I think all together we are marvelous.) Today, i got off the train and, looking around, saw there was a group of international students also standing on the platform. I was certain of my destination - while the group seemed to be huddled in a conference, but soon i noticed we were all walking the same

    City Garden

The City Garden is FREE! Find your way to the corner Eighth & Market downtown St. Louis and enjoy a little fresh air, cool art, several giggles, a lot of wonder. If you ride metrolink, the light rail system in St. Louis, get off at Eight & Pine and walk one block south. we are going to walk right over to the FREE City Garden and take a look. Wow. Welcoming the Day? No telling who you might find . . or where you might find them. I enjoy visiting this Bird. He is wearing shoes.
